The 1st International Conference on Democracy and Social Transformation (ICON-DEMOST) was held by The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UIN Walisongo Semarang at 15 September 2021. The Conference was conducted both offline and online in pandemic situation.

This first ICON-DEMOST paid close attention to the post Covid-19 social and political landscape so that the Organizers invited researchers and academic persons to discuss and share idea on how to understand and to face the new post covid-19 landscape.

The development of technology has in fact alienated society in a rapid social and political transformation. It seems that the future of democracy and humanity cannot be predicted in this digital world.
